ReMarkAble
I have a Pentium D 2.8GHz and an MSI 975x Platinum motherboard. I am trying to put iDeneb 1.4 on it and at first it just kept rebooting but I figured that out on my own. It turned out I didn't have USB keyboard and mouse support enabled in the BIOS. The it will get to about 1/3 of the way through the install and just hang. The screen still has a little moving disk icon, but the actual hard drive, (Seagate SATA) and the DVD-R/RW (IDE) just stop. No lights blinking, no activity at all, and the thing stuck like that all night long last night. I have also tried to set the BIOS up to boot from a USB DVD-R/RW but that won't even work at all, it just skips it and goes right to the hard drive. I am really at a complete loss on how to proceed. This is an SLI board, but I am just using a single GeForce 8500GT 512mb PCIEx video card, and it is an intel chipset. I aslo used the ALC882 driver, the ICH7, the Darwin Nvidia 512mb, and the intel network driver. I have had issues on another board with no SATA support, but this works with the SATA at least at first. Please, any help is appreciated, but my luck even getting responses on this board has been pretty much non-existant in the past. bonfilio
First, the usual culprits.. make sure SATA is set for AHCI, not IDE. Also, if you've got more than 2-3 GB of ram, put maxmem=2048 at the darwin prompt. Not too sure if it will be an issue, my AMD SLI board would freeze if I didn't cap memory. Try booting with -x at the Darin prompt (safe mode essentially).. is it able to get past that? It gets all the way in, then I prepare the disk, I select all the package and start installing and then it will hang at about 1/3 and to ll appearances on the screen it is still installing, but both the DVD and Hard disk show no sign of activity and it hangs endlessly. I did check all the stuff you mentioned and I took out 2gb of mem (it had 4). Maybe you did understand but I wasn't sure. In any case, still no luck. ReMarkAble
It's starting to look like it is finally at least going to get through the install, but in order to get this far I had to use the iPC version. ReMarkAble
Well what frustrates me is that I have had iDeneb running on a VIA chipset before. Give it an intel chipset and two different flavors of OSX86, and I can't even get close. I've tried just about everything I can think of, all to no avail. The iPC is what I actually got to install, but it just hangs up on the white Apple screen. Booting with the -x flag has no effect either. I would really love some help, but I honestly have had very little luck ever getting any on this forum, though I am not sure why. I am not trying to be a jerk, but I have posted a few times and gotten zero responses. ReMarkAble
No just the 975x Platinum v2.1 Now I can get through the install but it just stalls on the white apple screen at re-boot. I know it can be made to work but I have no idea how! ReMarkAble
[sarcasm]I have to say I am overwhelmed at the wealth of responses! Touched really! Such a show of support![/sarcasm] I am trying it with an IDE hard drive now. Somehow I suspect the issue relates to the ICH7R + JMicron chipset, so now I have all IDE devices and we'll see how it goes. The last time I tried with the SATA I actually got iDeneb to say it was installed successfully but still nothing but the apple screen hang on boot...... Beerkex'd
If you can complete the installation process using iPC, you are more than halfway there. It doesn't boot because you are picking wrong/conflicting/incompatible things under customize. Try installing less, try just picking a bootloader and a kernel and see what happens. Don't select anything under graphics, sound or LAN. ICH7 is supported by Apple's own drivers but I'm not so sure about ICH7R. Maybe you need to pick one of the ICHx patches too to get it to boot after the installation. Don't worry about getting everything right on the first try - once you get to the desktop you can fix the rest. Type your motherboard make and model in the search box to see what others have done. ReMarkAble
It just won't work I have tried it with no additional drivers, all to no avail. Others have got this working on this board, but I cannot. apple apple
I think an older version, iatkos v1.0i may work. If it does I think you'll still have issues when you turn off the computer. ReMarkAble
I got it! I am not sure why but it absolutely will not accept the vanilla kernel from any of the up-to-date flavors. I just had to use another kernel.
