Cjtouhey
First of all you will need a program called Apple HDA Patcher which i have hopfully atached to this topic if not google it and make sure you get the new version v1.20. Ok next boot up linux / or linux live cd and enter this command in the terminal interface cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#1 > ~/Desktop/codec_dump.txt it will drop the codec dump on your desktop drag it to a thumb drive or sd card depending on what youve got and restart your computer. Boot into apple OSX86 ,( i did this tutorial on version 10.5.7 ) next extract your apple hda patcher and drag and drop your your codec_Dump.txt onto the frog icon of the HDa Patcher and let it do its work , then restart your computer check in your prefrences whether your audio device has been add and try it out on a simple audio file or somthing. (if this alone dosnt work download a ALC888 INSTALLER as well from any one on this site install it and try again) good luck (TESTED ON ADVENT 6552) AppleHDAPatcherv1.20_2.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/178483-how-to-get-realtek-alc888-working-on-laptop-using-linux-or-linux-live-cd/ Share on other sites
JayTay
.... (if this alone dosnt work download a ALC888 INSTALLER as well from any one on this site install it and try again) good luck (TESTED ON ADVENT 6552) I tried it on my system (10.5.7 with Realtek ALC888/S/T @ Intel 82801GB ICH7) and it didn't work nor did any of the AppleHDA solutions. I then switched to the VooDooHDA driver and finally got audio.
