I looked at all the guides and for the life of me can't get a successful install on my Inspiron 1420

I've tried Leo4All v3, kalway 10.5.2, iAtkos 5, iAtkos 7, iPC 10.5.6 and the only install disk that would even boot was my iAtkos 5 dvd which boots and installs correctly but the resulting HD will not boot into leopard. It looks like it's going to, that light blue screen appears for 5 seconds, then screen goes blank. Still some HD activity but, nothing showing up.

Seems impossible...

How do I fix this? Argh

Shot in the dark here, but have you tried attaching an external monitor? A couple of laptops I've tried wouldn't boot to the LCD, but swapped video (after light blue screen) to external video only.

Leo4All worked for me, I'm just now trying to sort out my sound in Leopard.

Try changing your hard drives to ATA in your bios. You'll also want to disable Flash Caching.
