megaflash Posted July 27, 2009 Share Posted July 27, 2009 My computer specs are as followed, Processor: Intel Pentium 4 530, Hyper Threading 3.00ghz (code name: prescott) (mmx,sse,sse2,sse3) Motherboard: ECS-PT890T-A, Chipset: VIA-P4M890, Southbridge: VIA-VT8237A Bios: American Megatrends Inc. Version 080013 Memory: 2048 mbytes ddr2 single channel Video Card: NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS, Memory 512mb, Type Ddr2 My dvd drive and burner are both hooked up via IDE. My hard drive is also hooked up via IDE. I really need someone to point me in the right direction. I have tried installing xXx 10.5.6 and it would restart after I booted from the dvd. However after using the command -x -v cpus=1 I was able to get to the installation screen and when the installtion reached 95% it just froze and no longer continued. I decided to try xxx after I saw this http://www.projectosx.com/hardware/browse....=3&hwMa=ECS Can someone please point me in the right direction and tell me which iso to use or if my hardware is not supported? LouCioccio Posted July 29, 2009 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Now my situation was different. I had a used ASUS deluxe board that worked fine for several months not quite a year. I used an IDE Pioneer dvdcr 109 and two sata 500 gb drives and one small 30gb ide. I initially used Kalaway and upgraded to 10.5.7. Then one day it would not boot but the fans were running. I replaced the onboard battery with a new one and it worked. I figured it was the battery as I removed the ram I got several beeps. Then another week and it would not boot but to my dismay no beeps when I removed the battery. Figured the CPU or mobo died but was not quite sure. I bought a DG35EC Intel board and as I replaced the mobo, looked fine on top, two different places under neath looked odd. Several small caps bottoms looked like they over heated and two larger ones between the pci sockets looked the same. Anyway put all the parts back together with the new board and it would not boot up from the drive. I had bios set similar to ASUS. Good thing all the updates and install for apps were on the non-booting drive. Did some research on the Intel board and found I needed a SATA dvd instead of the IDE. Funny the Kalaway disc would not boot so I got iAtkos and that worked. Not sure why. Sorry that I am wordy so it may be a bios tweak and maybe a SATA drives. I have the 8600GS card and translucent menubar like my G5 tower so I know the card is working. I am sorry that I am not able to help.
