Hi guys,

I have an AMD 64x2 4200+ with 4GB in an M2V (K8T890 with vt8237a southbridge, rootfs on SATA) and NV 9600GT. By applying the theStevo PPF (with AppleVIAATA.kext) to the Kalyway 10.5.2 ISO, I made it through the install process. My problem is now that the boot process just hangs around about the point where network stuff is coming up (there are messages about mDNSResponder starting). There are no error messages but the boot process just stops. I'm booting with -v -x.

I was getting "unknown SIGSEGV code 0" until I applied the AMD 1052 patch-1... but I'm still getting hangs. Do I also apply the AMD ACPI patch (the one labelled "needed for most old AMDs") or just the 1052 patch? Do I need to apply any of the SMBIOS patches? I'm assuming I should select "NVinject-512" as I have a card with 512MB on it.

I have a Broadcom BCM4318 that I get my internet access through and have selected the Broadcom driver to be installed. Any chance that's causing the hang?

Has anyone made OSX work on the same motherboard (M2V)? I can try other combinations of patches but there are so many to choose from and each requires a half-hour install process that I could be trying out the permutations in 2011 and still not find the right one! Or is there a way to change the selected set of patches without waiting for the whole install process?

The fact that the installer runs faultlessly gives me hope that it can work on my hardware... but why is it not working once I leave the installer and try to boot the system proper? Can post a photograph of the hung console screen if you like.

any help appreciated.

And here is the screenshot:

Note that that's in framebuffer mode, so something is going OK with the graphics. I don't see the purported Login Window Application though obviously.

I assume the "Error getting a reference to IODeviceTree:/options" is the real problem here and googling tells me that I might need one of the SMBIOS patches, but doesn't really give a description of what's actually going wrong or any indication of how I select the patches.

thanks...

Replace the IONETWORKINGFAMILY.kext.

What ethernet card are you using?

If it's possible, select the right ethernet package during the installation.

If you've selected one, re-install and select none.

try with ideneb, kaly is from stone age...

Ah, OK. Kalyway was recommended to me by a friend who got it to work but they have different hardware. I'll give ideneb a go - 1.5/10.5.7 coming down now.

(I fixed the IODeviceTree:/options error but it still hangs anyway. And it correctly identifies my Broadcom card and gets its MAC address... so there's some other issue and I will abandon that install unless ideneb fails)
