bryandugan
Hello, Recently I upgraded iDeneb 10.5.6 (v1.4) to 10.5.7 using the Combo Update Package. I had heard that people were having some problems with it, so I backed up to a .sparseimage. To boot with the new 10.5.7 version, you have to specify your kernel as a boot tag in the Darwin bootloader (kind of a hassle sometimes ). For instance, I'm using Voodoo so if I wanted to boot verbose I would have to boot with voodoo -v . If you do not specify the kernel, your computer will just crash and reboot after that "Loading HFS File" sequence. At first I couldn't boot with just voodoo , so I tried booting to voodoo -v to see what was going on. Everything was fine (?). Then I booted into voodoo -v -f No Dice. Finally voodoo -v -f -x WOW it worked! I logged in and shut down. Got the "Updating boot caches" which was good news. booted voodoo -v and it worked! Anyway this problem happened a few times after and I'd have to boot into safe mode and then into normal voodoo. For some reason it stopped but now it is tiring to deal with typing "voodoo" at EVERY boot. I know that there was a patch on iDeneb v1.4 for an automatic cpus=1 fix. Is there any way I can make the computer boot to voodoo Automatically? My Specs Are: 3GHz Intel Pentium 4 Nvidia 8600GT 512MB DDR3 running the NVInject 512MB Driver PS/2 Keyboard, Wireless USB Mouse 2GB DDR2 Memory Running off a 1TB MyBook USB HD Intel DQ965GF MB Thanks in advance, Bryan Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/175777-automatic-boot-tags/ Share on other sites
Pericles Silva
Hello. My brother, take a look in the OSX86Tools, and click in the field ADD a EFI String/Boot Flag. I think there is a place you can put the "Boot Flags". Hope can help! Poco
You can also add the flags in: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist under the key Kernel FLags. iPoco Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/175777-automatic-boot-tags/#findComment-1205288 Share on other sites
