schnoman
Hi there, Firstly, a huge thanks to everyone here for all their input, I know this is my first post - but I have gleaned a lot from here, enough to get 3 distros and 1 retail up and running fully on other hardware. I have an issue however with this board. Full specs: ASUS P5QL EPU (Intel P43 Chipset) 3GB DDR2 667MHz Geforce 8600GTS 80GB SATA 250GB SATA Intel Core 2 E6420 2.13GHz I'm trying to go as vanilla as possible, using the boot-132 method. However, I can't get any distro (iAtkos v7, iDeneb 1.4, iPC 10.5.6, Kalway), let alone retail using boot-132 to boot after install. I have used various boot flags/switches, checked, recheck, and changed BIOS ACPI/CPU/ settings. It hangs here: I've tried booting with CPUS=1 too. MAC Framework successfully initialized using 15728 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers I've tried building my own boot-132 iso with kexts for my chipset etc to no avail. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing the issue or a have a working machine with this board they can post their complete BIOS settings? I've got to be missing something. Thanks in advance. Karim Benayed
Hi, I have the same exact problem. I tried iAtkos 7 and ipc 10.5.6. Install goes well but post reboot just hangs at "MAC Framework successfully initialized using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers" I am using BIOS version 405 that others reported that it worked fine for them. I basically tried every bios combination and permutation I could thing of. This is just insane In any case, I can boot from the DVD, I press F8 the do cpus=1 -v rd=disk0s3 (your disk info will be different of course) I am just not sure why I can boot from the DVD and not the drive directly. Someone reported to add an ACPI kext fix. I have not done that yet, I will do it to night. At this point, I am seriously considering cutting my losses (mainly family time loss) and trying a different motherboard. scwhar
You used Collingwood's guide? P5QL/EPU guide I did get a lot of hangs on the MAC framework installing iPC, was a lot of trial and error but it will work.. its important you use iPC 10.5.6 final ppf5, the earlier ones don't include ACPI fix, which is essential BIOS settings I posted on first page should install OK (I wrote them down right after successful iPC install), not sure they're all needed, have speedstep enabled now (in SL) Maybe try retail snow using the bootCD i put up on the second page The moboard runs quite sweet worth persevering.
