Hi,i like to build a new system and need da motherboard for it.

my first choice is the GA-EG41MF-S2H, but it only supports 4GB Ram.

Now i found the GA-EG41MF-US2H, but no information about compatiblity to Mac OSX.

It would be great if someone who tryed it could make a short review if anything works with it.

More info would help. I assume for case-size reason you need the mobo to be microATX? (If not, simply use a full-sized ATX board with all the RAM capacity/features you need. It'll end up being a lot better supported, and probably cost less also.)

Also- are you certain you require 8GB of RAM? I often see where people insist on 8GB for simple things, when most tasks work fine with 4GB of RAM. A mATX board with 4GB that fully works in OSX is easy to find.

Otherwise, check the HCL wiki for the board you're looking into. (see link in my sig.) Or for other mATX boards with the RAM capacity you want.

Chances are that Gigabyte might* work- judging from the stats, the chipset is supported, the onboard components should work, but not the onboard X4500 video, so plan on using a PCIe graphics card.

If you're brave enough to be a trailblazer on this board- please post your results to the wiki.

*might work! I'm guessing that this is a similar board to the G41-ES2L (works), with 4 slots and more video options, but sometimes subtle BIOS and other differences can mean a board won't run OSX.

Hi

I have just upgraded my machine using a GA-EG31MF-US2H and can confirm the following:

Retail Install -

Works fine, software updates etc all perfect, processor detected correctly. LAN works out of box, onboard audio & graphics not tested (due to other cards)

I couldn't get my 8600gts working right retail though, so had to go for iPC vanilla install. Once again all went fine!

Hope this helps (if you still need it old topic!)

Is the above EG31 motherboard a revision 1.x or 2.0? I have heard that the 2.0 has some problem which I'm not sure why as the specs are identical. It is currently very difficult to get the 1.x motherboard as they have all been superceded. I had a Gigabyte EG31board with a 9600GT and it worked flawlessly with iPC 10.5.6 but it was stolen so I'm now trying to rebuild one using the rev 2.0 motherboard.
