alrightk, so AIM isn't universal yet, and its pretty slow when oping up the buddy list.

are there any other chat progrms that will allow me to use this same name, keep my buddy list already made, and stuf that is universal binary.

any help is appreciated.

i've been pretty upset at AOL for not releasing a version for OS X with video and audio chat capabilities. The iSight on my MBP is pretty much rendered useless right now.

Actaully jgrimes, AOL locked out Mac iChat users from doing voice/video chats with users of the new AIM "Triton" Beta (which most people are now using). Voice and Video only works with people on AIM 5.9.

iChat works again with AIM, as of version 6.1 - just tested it out. The video quality is crappy, but at least it ain't broken anymore! :P

iChat is the native option- works perfect w/ AOL/AIM network, and allows you to use iSight cameras. I video-chat with my brother in the UK all the time on it with crystal-clear video/audio.

For an outside option that can log onto multiple clients, Adium is the one that everybody uses and stands by. No need to use anything other than these two clients.

Another vote for Adium. I used iChat forever, but once I started using Adium regularly, I don't want to go back to iChat! Also, you can dress Adium up however you want. They have an awesome Xtras community to add all kinds of functionality to it. Growl is just awesome...give it a shot. I've used Fire before too...it's pretty cool. It's just whatever you like. The beauty of shareware/freeware programs...
