Installed 10.5.5, just downloaded a 10.5.7 disk, gonna install that one before I tinker

Also, if you boot and get a panic, cpus=1 will get you past that panic, but if you disable ACPI APIC support in bios, you will not have to.

I had iDeneb 1.3 installed, and I tried both the 10.5.7 upgrade Disc and a fresh install of iDeneb 1.5.1 several times with different fixes, and none of my tries worked out. The upgrade Disc gave me a kernel panic during boot, the fresh install keeps hanging right after the "using XXXX buffer headers..." message

I used the same BIOS settings as for 10.5.5.

Besides, there's still only one core working in my machine... icon7.gif

Any ideas already?

The trick is to get a working install with 1 core , Update to EFI V9, then do DSDT patch to get all the other cores working Or run the modified bios from Kabyl, the modified bios, will give you a BSOD inwindows though...

sorry, have been away from osx a while...

finally, it's working now :thumbsup_anim:

i tried the modded bios, but i still had to manually fix the already patched dsdt (remove all 'Alias' entries from the .dsl, then recompile), then i was able to reactivate acpi apic in the bios and voilà:

thanks for your help again!

will try to upgrade to 10.5.8 now, if that works i can finally use my hd4850 AND both monitors

will check back again when it's finished.

sebastian

installed 10.5.8 today, and almost everything worked right out of the box.

the first thing was, that there were no audio devices avasilable in the preferences, which i could resolve with the AppleHDA.kext from this thread.

the second issue is driving me crazy.

as long as i have both monitors connected, i suffer from the already known jumping/lagging mouse & keyboard issue.

but as soon as i disconnect one of the monitors, the other one also goes into standby, with osx giving some kind of error sound.

this is really annoying, since i can forget about any kind of precise working in photoshop or final cut :thumbsup_anim:

anybody else experienced that kind of behaviour?

sebastian

btw: rebooting with one monitor doesn't resolve the problem...
