I have a rather maxed out Core i7 machine, based on the Asus P6T, and using Hitachi 1TB drives. The problem I'm finding is that while the drive on SATA0 that I boot from is pretty fast (xBench overall score of about 200), the exact same model drive connected to any other SATA channel is literally 100x slower (~1MB/sec). This doesn't appear to be true under Linux, and all the SMART information shows the drive as "ok". The drives were bought at the same time, and are from the same batch.

I've gone looking for anything that might explain this, but can't find anything.

Some additional observations. Running xBench hangs when trying to do random hard drive tests. It has to be Force Quit. Also, when trying to partition the drive, it takes several minutes, rather than the usual seconds, which seems to re-enforce the 100x slower. I've spoken with Hitachi, but they claim that without any proof that the drive is failing, they can't do anything (it's an OEM drive).

I've included a screenshot from the System Profiler and a dump from it that's somewhat sanitized to remove personal information.

I also posted a long description of the exact configuration and how I got it up and running on my blog.

Any assistance would be most appreciated! Thanks!

I am having the same issue with the ASUS P6T6 WS, got all the cores, graphics, LAN, etc working awesome, and everything from the boot drive seems to be working fine, but when I try to access the other drives in my system it hangs, takes a long time, or freezes.

Is there some sort of fix or kext specific for the ICH10R somewhere?

I'm still pretty new at this hackintosh stuff. Let me know if you find out
