chitnik
I am a noob to the Hackintosh world, but setting up an excellently working system was extremely easy using Digital Dreamers installer for the GA-EX58-UD5. THANK YOU DD! I have a few minor issues that I am hoping you guys can help me work out. I posted these question under DD's tutorial in the Genius Bar, but that thread is so gigantic I am afraid my post has been lost. Firstly, only one of my Ethernet jacks works correctly. When I plug in the second one, it shows up in my Network preferences as an Airport connection. It works okay as such for a while, but it will eventually cause a kernel panic if I leave it plugged in. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known solution? The second minor issue I have is I cannot figure out how to get the front audio panel working. I tried installing some of the optional audio drivers that came with the installer, but this results in a kernel panic on start up. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how to get this to work? Finally, I am wondering if there is a way to speed up booting. Is it possible to cache the AHCI settings so that I do not have to sit through the long AHCI bios boot? Also, I tried to edit the "timeout" setting in com.apple.boot.plist to get Chameleon to boot OS X more quickly... but to no avail. Where can I change this setting? Thanks again, and sorry for the noob questions. orew
Hey I'm not sure about your first two issues but I have the same board. I grabbed the latest bios from here (F8e) http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/gigabyte-latest-bios-28441/ and it updated AHCI to 1.20 from 1.06 and now boot time has been cut in half. Cheers. chitnik
Okay... I updated to F8h from Tweaktown, and boot times are much faster. Thanks! I also figured out my Ethernet issue. In the PrefPane, I had to manually delete my Airport connection, manually add a second Ethernet connection, apply, close, and reopen the PrefPane. Vióla!... or perhaps I should say, "Duh!" On to figure out what stupid, obvious thing I am doing wrong on the front panel audio issue.
