I don't have experience with Boot123 or iPC, but I can tell you it is helpful to create a separate partition for the OS to be installed on. Then you can use Time Machine to do backups of your OS. If you mess things up after you get it running, you can boot off your install disk and use Time Machine to rewind the system to a point before your mis-step.

 

The trick is, your System Software must be installed on its own partition for Time Machine to back it up.

@emotional friend: sorry to hijack this thread, will time machine do a complete system restore or is it only file backup? i want to change partition size, this will wipe everything. can i use time machine afterwards to fully restore my system on the new partition?
