For the one core issue what kernel do you have installed. To find out open up the terminal and type in:

uname -a

Then post the info here.

Also check your com.apple.Boot.plist in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ for the "cpus=1" flag

hi there,

i have (quite) the same problem, i have a dual xeon setup and osx (iDeneb 1.3) also only recognizes only 1 core out of 8... :(

I already tried:

  • booting with "cpus=8" (I don't have a "cpus=1" entry in my apple.boot.com.plist)
  • setting MAX CPUID to Disabled
  • Enabling ACPI APIC results in an immediate reboot loop

my uname -a output:

Darwin sebastian-vs-macpro31.local 9.5.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.5.0: Wed Sep 3
11:29:43 PDT 2008; root:xnu-1228.7.58~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

any help will be appreciated, i need those cores for video rendering.

sebastian
