jpipitone
Hey all, I've searched the forums and I can't come up with an answer - I've tried to install from the DVD burn (10.4.6) and the installation fails to complete. I've installed VMWare and selected to use a physical drive, and I've mounted the Tiger ISO With Daemon Tools - however VMWare says "No bootable CD found" Why can I boot my machine from the installer, but VMware fails to see it as a bootable CD? I've also popped in the CD and tried to boot from there - same thing. HELP!!! jpipitone
in VMware, when setting up the system type, are you supposed to configure it as a FreeBSD box? Is that why the image won't boot? ngot
Forgot about Vmware, go straight to native mode. I had problems booting with Vmware due to a PAE error. Tried everything which was suggested in this forum. My problems disappeared after I booted in native mode. jpipitone
Well, I've tried installing natively - the only way I could get the install to complete withour errors is if I deselected the intel options in my custom install. Now, when I choose Mac OS X in my bootloader, I get the gray screen with the apple icon, and then a small tiny square displays with a circle in it - like its crossed out. Any ideas why it won't boot now? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17386-cant-boot-from-mounted-iso-in-vmware/#findComment-112226 Share on other sites
ngot
Do you have a CPU that supports SSE2 or SSE3? Which patched DVD are you using? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17386-cant-boot-from-mounted-iso-in-vmware/#findComment-112229 Share on other sites
jpipitone
Yes, I downloaded a tool that checks my CPU support - it supports both SSE2 and SSE3....I also followed someone's instructions to copy the mach_kernel over, and same problem occurs. I'm using the 10.4.6 HOTiSO patched DVD. I'm stumped. Could it be something within my bios? I've disabled hyperthreading if that makes a difference...is there some way I can start to boot OS X from the command line or single user mode and look for what the error is?
