So today I put iDeneb 10.5.6 on my HP Pavilion dv4-1435. It's a partial success. The DVD booted to the installer with no modification, I installed it with the intel chipset, realtek 1000 ethernet, and a sound driver.

The install went smoothly, and it booted right up.

Some issues:

(1) With the intel GMA 4500 graphics chip, no QE, limited graphics modes.

(2) Sound doesn't work

(3) the WiFi doesn't work.

If I can get #3 fixed, I'll stick with it...

Thoughts?

depends! whats your wifi card? i've got a dv4 with a broadcom wireless and it works after editing a plist

I'm thinking that it's Intel Pro Wireless - I can't seem to find a spec sheet anywhere, but if I go to the HP site and look for Windows XP/Vista drivers for this machine, it has intel pro wireless drivers + LSI audio drivers available for download.

Also, I'm going to give switchresx a shot to see if I can at least get the screen into native resolution.

(The irony of this is that when I finally got iDeneb to the install screen and options, it looked like it had all the options necessary to make my Phenom powered desktop run well, but I couldn't get that distro past "waiting for root" on the desktop...)

EDIT: I discovered this link on the Tiger Install side that links to ProSet/Wireless 2200 drivers

http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/

I'll give them a shot in a bit.

So I could install the drivers for the 2200 Pro wireless, and I rebooted. But the networkselector program says "could not get ID for kernal control" and the terminal window exits without letting me try to connect to a network.

So I'm not sure if it's a different Prowireless chipset, or a different wifi card altogether...
