DavidMIRV
Hello All, First of all let me say I didn't want to post a new topic on this as the current threads are already huge but I've been searching and/or posting in them for days now and cannot seem to solve this problem. While I last posted that the second package in the thread by lastExile works for me this was wrong. Some odd combination of installing that package and the netkas packages gets the Video working with QE only. (I tried to duplicate this process so that I could post it but I couldn't even get it working again with iAtkos 5i (10.5.5)) So I've installed iPC 10.5.6 simply because it seemed to contain more driver support and 10.5.6 out of the box. I selected 2400HD Driver(I believe this just installs NATIT, Sound, Intel ICHx (SATA) and RealTek R1000.. So the thing is when it boots the first time after install (I booted with -f -v) I can see it (ATY_INIT?) dump out the Video Card initialization 'stuff' (Can only read parts of it but I've been messing around with it long enough that I know that I see this set of 20+ lines when the video card [driver?] is initialized [properly?]) So the thing is the screen flashes blue with the default background for 2-3 seconds like it initialized and then goes black and my Acer (ALCW22) reports "No Signal" I am currently plugged into the vga port of the card to the vga port of my screen (no adapters) as I haven't had much luck playing with the dvi-out... Has anyone had problems like this before and was able to fix? I've been searching (and will probably continue to search while I wait for replies) through this forum for a fix but I havn't quite seen anything. I've read something here about a BIOS update for the 2400 HD but if I am not mistaken it is for the XT only? Is there any kind of log that might provide more information as to why the video appears to start and fails ? EDIT : If I remove Natit.kext I can boot with video (vesa?) so possibly this is a EFI String issue? System Information: DFI .Inf Series (Infinity) 975X (Award Bios) Intel® 975X Express chipset - Pont nord: Intel® 975X - Pont sud: Intel® ICH7R 4 GB DDR2 Memory OSX Info: iPC 10.5.6 W/ Vanilla Kernel 9.6.0 [default] Intel E4500 CPU ATI Radeon 2400 HD Pro 300 GB Maxtor Sata HD Realtek 811B Gigabit Lan [Onboard] RealTek ALC882 [Onboard] EDIT Methods Attempted: Giorgio's Method Results in screen with blue/green dots (w/ Megalodon Framebuffer) LastExil's packages don't have any effect NOTE: I backed up all the S/L/E/ATI* AND GeF* files from the fresh installation first before trying a different method OK after working on this all day and downloading several whole topics to PDF files (for easy reference and searching) I think I've finally solved this.... I used This Method Although the first time I booted I freaked out because it seemed to get stuck after loading the background image I rebooted and used the flags -f -v "Graphics Mode"="1024x768" and Viola`! I have full QE/CI And Rotation support listed in system profiler!!!! EDIT: I should note that I used the aforementioned method on a clean install (iPC 10.5.6) without selecting any Video drivers, I did however select DSDT patcher w/ chameleon but I'd assume that wouldn't make a difference but Although no one answered here and I solved the problem on my own(it took a whole day+) big thanks too all the contributors LastExile,Giorgio and mcsmart NOTE : The first time I had both plugs plugged into DVI and VGA (Monitor and Card have both and my monitor supports switching). When I plug into the DVI port I can see my background image but no menu's etc.. Weird, seems like I almost have DVI support Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/173431-solved-ati-radeon-hd-2400-pro-pci-e-woes/ Share on other sites
DavidMIRV
Well I decided to try to update to 10.5.7 (Safari 4!) and lost QE... System Profiler is reporting CI as Software and QE as not supported.. Still working on it.. well I redid the whole process in single user mode and somehow got QE/CI/Rotation all back with Hardware Acel Ci.. Melon Man
I have a HD 2400 Pro, and I have to use a DVI-to-VGA adapter on the DVI port, and use a VGA cable to connect to the adapter. I am using Netkas' Natit driver. DavidMIRV
Yes, why is it that we aren't able to get full DVI support without any adapter? Something to do with the apple driver's not supporting DVI on Mac hardware? Don't get it ... I get a real bad 'flicker' when i use the vga port of my video card (esp when viewing something with a black background (iterm).
