JoeSpit
so can i pretty much use any dual or quad core intel chip? also what is the easiest and most reliable mobo to use quad on and 8gb of ram
ToaDsiX
intel chips are the best solution. Core 2 duo and quad no problem. The asus motherboards need a bios mod to get all the cores working correctly if I understand correctly. The gigabyte boards are more popular at this point. If you look on the wiki you can see the boards that work.

U.C.
I am using a Gigbayte EP-43 DS3l, which is fully functional, with Sleep and everything. The EP-45's are also fully compatible.
