pawz
I want to boot a retail install and I have a couple of retail leopard dvd's (10.5 and 10.5.4) and I am trying to install to a Core 2 Quad on an Intel DG45ID board. I've been trying modified Boot-132 disks by Kabyl and other people to boot the retail dvd but when I swap the disc out and put the retail dvd in, nothing happens, it just goes back to the Darwin prompt. So what other methods are there for me to kick-start a retail install ? I tried running the installer from within a working system (I have a working JaS system on there) but it wouldn't run despite one guide telling me that it would work. What other methods are there for booting a retail install image. Should I try and install in vmware and then copy the image onto the hard drive ? Should I try to put the image on a USB stick and install that way ? If I do put the image on a USB stick does it boot natively or do I need patches or a boot disc ? Please give me an idea what other options I have to get a vanilla system onto my hardware. cocotutch
There are the hacked/modified OSx86 distros such as Kalyway 10.5.2 and stuff like that, Leo4All with the Voodoo Kernel would be good if I could find it anywhere, but the Boot-132 Method actually booted into the Disc for me, but it SWODed. I am now investigating Leo4all and Kalyway, but I want to stick with Boot 132 since it allows for straight updates, and no patching and fiddling around. So i am fully recommending staying with Boot 132. cocotutch Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172772-other-methods-to-do-a-retail-install/#findComment-1187953 Share on other sites
