Today I recieved some bad news: my school wants to switch to all Macs. Luckily I have until the 2010-2011 school year to switch, so using my awesome Envy 133 for this year will not be a problem.

Still, I want to avoid purchasing a Mac at all costs, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any success or failures at installing Mac OS X on the Envy. I will be trying out a copy of iDeneb, iAtkos, or another distro soon but I wanted to find out first if drivers (i.e. bluetooth, audio, WiFi, etc.) will work.

I figure the Intel audio and Wireless are probably pretty standard, but I wanted to check here. Bluetooth would be nice, I'm figuring the webcam is pretty unlikely unless some HP driver works.

The hardware is as follows:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo P7700 1.8Ghz
  • Intel Mobile 965 Chipset
  • 2 GB DDR2-667 RAM
  • Intel GMA 3100 Graphics (1280x800 LCD)
  • Intel 4965 AGN Wifi
  • Broadcom 2045 Bluetooth
  • Realtek/Intel onboard audio (not quite sure, both show up in Vista Device Manager).

Thanks in advance.

It will work perfectly But the wifi driver wont be realesed until 2-3 mounts

Oh right I seem to remember having that issue with the same WiFi on my HP pavillion. Where can I check the status on that driver?

2 to 3 months won't be a problem as school doesn't start till August and I can still use Windows for this year.

Everything else should be good to go then? Any problems with bluetooth or HP webcams?
