I have a bit of a problem here.

I have the AC97 SB400 onboard audio chipset (1002:4370) and my problem is this:

If i try starting GarageBand with no audio drivers installed, it gives me an error something like "selected audio device not found" but loads up fine (with no sound of course.) But once i install audio drivers which work for music and movies, GarageBand will freeze my entire mac upon startup initialization. Its getting to be frustrating, i've tried several drivers to no avail. I really want garageband to work :(

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running 10.5.4, although i've had this same problem in 10.5.2 and also 10.5.7.
