Now that Omni blesses us with a working ATI driver, I find very little reasons for booting Windows. Unfortunately, I have to do that if I want to transfer any new tracks to my MP3 players - yes, one of those {censored} jobs who only transfers music using Windows Media Player 10 (Philips PSA235).

Is there any software/plugin that can help me transfer music to it in OS X?

Me again, buzzing around here. I've found an Open Source project that is developing a software for transferring music to MTP devices. The developers say that it should be able to do the job, the problem being that it does not "see" other players than some Creative models which it was originally designed to work with.

If somebody with programming skills is masochistic enough and would like to spend some time on this problem, the sources can be found at http://www.wentnet.com/projects/xnjb/

On a second note, there is a Linux Open Source project with the same goal – libmtp: “an implementation of Microsoft's Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) in the form of a library suitable primarily for POSIX compliant operating systems”. It’s located at http://libmtp.sourceforge.net/. There's also a project called MTPdude ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/mtpdude ) which uses libmtp to transfer music to MTP devices. Both projects are aimed at POSIX OS-es (Linux/BSD/UNIX-like OSes).

Is anybody willing to pick up the challange?
