zO fO draziW
Heres how my computer is setup... I have XP on a 250GB SATA HD, while I have OSX on a 80GB IDE HD, and my DVD is SATA as well. In bios, in order to run Leopard, I have to change my SATA mode from IDE to AHCI, and of course, XP doesent like AHCI, and if left in that mode when trying to boot XP, will restart immediately. I wanna be able to dual boot if possible, but seeing as I have to change the SATA mode for each OS, I dont see how its possible. Anyone have any ideas? I know Vista will allow for AHCI, but umm...... I have yet to find ONE thing that i dont dislike about Vista! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172056-xposx-dual-boot-question/ Share on other sites
EGOvoruhk
Vista is far superior to XP. I'm sorry you can't see that As for AHCI in XP, it works fine as long as long as you have an ICHXR motherboard (and not just ICHX). You just need to load the drivers from a floppy, or slipstream them into an installation disc with something like nLite Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172056-xposx-dual-boot-question/#findComment-1184445 Share on other sites
maleorderbride
You can install an extra kext in OS X that will allow you to boot with the BIOS still set to IDE mode. I attached it. Just use OSx86 Tools, or kext helper, or whatever to install it and touch the extensions folder. vista is superior, or you could use windows 7 RC. Anyway, this is still a handy kext to have around.
