Laffo Posted June 23, 2009 Share Posted June 23, 2009 I changed my graphics card from a 1900xt to HD4870, but osx wont boot anymore. I can however boot up in my 'utility' partition to make changes. What is the procedure for removing the old graphics card drivers so that the new ones can take effect? Cheers! zuz_242 Posted June 23, 2009 Share Posted June 23, 2009 i dont know about the rest of your system, but for removing the drivers, you got to delete the (/all) ati*.kexts and natit.kext in the extensions folder. next reboot should be done with -f to clear the cache. you get a "vesa" mode without gfx aceleration. it might be a good idea to back up the deleted kexts first, using e.g. osx86tools. you even might try to update you drivers / install new ones from your utility partition.
