Finally have scrounged up enough money for a new build and Snow Leopard is just around the corner. :(

I know some of you have fooled around with some of the developer copies of Snow Leopard and know... A LOT more than I would... So I'm asking yall

I'd like to build the computer as soon as possible... Sometime in July/August... and so Apple says they will release Snow Leopard sometime in September. So i am fine with running 10.5.7 until then...

What are your thoughts on the compatibility of this build for what you expect to see on Snow Leopard:

(I have heard of some possible problems when it comes to Graphics Cards?)

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

GIGABYTE GV-N98TOC-512I GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1333C9

Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive - OEM

CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX 450W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223F - OEM

Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

All for around $1000 from newegg.

I do a lot of graphics work... So I would assume the GeForce 9800 GT would be a good pick... But I am not sure what cards will be supported or should be supported in Snow Leopard?

Thanks guys.

all of that will be supported with minor modifications.

I own a fairly old MacBook Pro..

Do I need to buy a second drive for the PC and have 2 drives to be able to install and set everything up for the first time, or can I just use my current macbook pro to setup the scripts/bootloaders/ etc? I've been reading up on the process for weeks but I seem to be confused on the "ground zero - I have my parts, hooked them up, plugged it in, and pushed the power button... what do I do now stage"

Pick a different DVD burner. Never get a Samsung one, they are {censored}, especially the SH-223 one. I would recommend Pioneer DVR-216D if you burn a lot of DVDs but don't rip scratched CDs often, or the Optiarc AD-7240S if you read more CDs and burn fewer DVDs. I have a Samsung (also known as TSST -- Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology) and I'm replacing it with the Optiarc one because I hardly ever burn anything but want to be able to read any and all CDs and DVDs.
