steve9x
Hello. I have successfully installed OSx86 (iDeneb 10.5.5) on my system (Toshiba Satellite L305-S5919) I have gotten the sound working (Using the VoodoHDA driver), and my usb ports working, and finally my internet working with a Hawking HWUG1 usb wireless device... I originally attempted to install Logic using the Logic installer, however it said I have 0 of the recommended 64M VRAM and refused to let me install it... here's a LSPCI output just so you know my system: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub [8086:2a40] (rev 07) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07) 00:02.1 Display controller [0380]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a43] (rev 07) 00:1a.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:2937] (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 [8086:2938] (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 [8086:293c] (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:293e] (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 1 [8086:2940] (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 2 [8086:2942] (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 5 [8086:2948] (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:2934] (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 [8086:2935] (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 [8086:2936] (rev 03) 00:1d.3 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 [8086:2939] (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 [8086:293a] (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge [8086:2448] (rev 93) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation ICH9M LPC Interface Controller [8086:2919] (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation ICH9M/M-E SATA AHCI Controller [8086:2929] (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) SMBus Controller [8086:2930] (rev 03) 02:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter [168c:001c] (rev 01) My graphics device is a: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Which is the same as an Intel GMA 4500M I have been told that it's unsupported! Why is that? If there are drivers for similar devices like Intel GMA 950 why wouldn't there be one for 4500M? Isn't there a possible way to get a similar driver working, by patching in the vendor id, and device id into the kext? I thought I heard of something like that but can't find the link... Using pacifist, I was able to force Logic Studio to install anyway... However since I have no driver for my integrated graphics card (which is all I have)... Logic doesn't run properly... It itself doesn't check for the requirements to be met (like the installer did) but it doesn't run correctly, and certain things screw it up... For example, I cannot open any of the preferences in it! It will not show them then the program screws up and I have to close it and reopen it... I have tried created a midi clip and trying to use a piano instrument and drawing some notes onto the clip trying to get some sound to come out of Logic. My sound works great as I am listening to iTunes right now. It's just I think since I'm using VoodoHDA, I have to configure the audio output first before being able to use Logic. Since I can't get into the preferences to change that, I was thinking there must be some way of manually changing the preferences. There's gotta be a file somewhere that can be edited or something... So how can I manually change the settings for the audio output and how do I change the settings so my audio device is recognized in Logic? Someone that has a working Logic, could you please find where Logic stores it's audio output settings and say where and how to configure it? This is what my Logic looks like at the moment: Why are those EXS24, Chan EQ, and Limiter things crossed off? and at the bottom it says "No In", "No Out".. I think that's my problem why I can't hear anything from logic... I need to manually configure the settings, then maybe I can use logic somewhat as long as I don't hit the preferences button I should be fine... Thanks for your help. Khan_Man
can you check and see if you have a Logic Studio preferences file in your home/library/preferences folder? Because U didn't use the installer, I bet the path didn't get set. How to fix this is not clear. EDIT: actually I think my home folder is just called root for some reason... in home/Library/Preferences There are two files that have the Logic keyword in them: "com.apple.logic.pro.plist" and "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" could one of those be it? in /Library/Preferences of my drive "leo" which is what has osx installed, there is far less files, and no sign of logic at all... Does pacifist not install everything that a normal installer would? nobbynator
Hi Steve I had the same install problem with the )MB video RAM, I decided to get that sorted and then install..so I think you may have to look into getting your video kext working properly...I noticed that my video was very sluggish anyway so I think it is something you need to sort out., I'm on a toshiba sat too but my graphics is a Nvidia so I'm afraid I can't help you there. I was using the exact kext for my 7300 Go but had to use a more generic nvinject/nvdarwin to get my video RAM recognised..not sure what your options are for intel. The reason the EXS sampler etc. is crossed out is because Logic hasn't got a configured sound device...which is aporblme as you can't get into the preferences to sort it, you cold try editing the com.apple.logic.plist but you'll need a fuill on Logic Guru for that, there are some good logic forums out there which are worth joining, some real experts that may help. I reckon, get your video working then you'll get into the preferences to tell it which sound device to use...or most likely the install with go through properly and it will realise that's the only sound device you have and use it. All the best...a pleasure to see another Logic user on here. Hope I've helped Rich Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/171716-logic-studio-problem-how-to-manually-change-the-preferences/#findComment-1406660 Share on other sites
