I hope this is the correct forum.

I installed 10.5.0 and updated to 10.5.5 using the onboard video on my GA-G31M-ES2L and got everything running nicely. Then I plug in my nVidia 7200GS and booting hangs at the gray apple screen. Booting with -v says it paniced because "package 0 didn't get an HPET". If I pull the card, it boots fine again. Oh, and the Leopard install DVD seems happy with the card....

I could understand screwed up graphics, but screwing up HPET detection??? Can anyone explain this or provide a workaround?

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext is the only part of OS X that uses the HPET.

Don't take my word for it, use the search.

I am quite willing to take your word for it, but that connection was not at all obvious, and AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext was removed during the install by the post-patch.sh script in the leopard_install_kit from jdratlif's post. I checked and it is still gone.

Re: search, I did search. I got a bazillion topics, most of which had many pages, most of which did not mention HPET and there is no way to tell which of the 89 pages do mention HPET. The search function is this sofware is not particularly good. So after searching for a couple hours, I posted.
