Hey Hackbook Pro,

You are the only person I can find with an SP35P2 that has successfully installed MAC OS. I'm new to the whole "Hackintosh" scene and hoping that you can help me through my attempt at installing Snow Leopard on my machine.

I have a SP35P2 PRO, with an e6750 @ 3.2Ghz, 4GB ram, 8800GT, and creative X-Fi fatal1ty pro sound card.

I have an image of a retail copy of mac snow leopard. Don't know if I should burn a dual layer disc or use a flash drive.

I'm currently running Windows XP and it is important for me to keep it intact and fully functional. So I'm really looking to dual boot XP and Leopard.

What is your experience so far with MAC OS on your shuttle? I'm hoping I can run programs such as Logic, Avid, Final Cut, and Pro Tools.

Will I be able to use my creative sound card or do I need to enable on-board sound?

Please give me some good starting tips to propel me in this endeavor. If I can turn my PC into a mac, it would be a dream come true.

Hey reason, for installing I would suggest using a USB flash drive. Once set up, any program will run on your system. As for your X-Fi card, I only have intergrated sound, so I don't know if that works or not. Dual-booting with chameleon is very easy. I actually have chameleon triple booting Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Hi Hackbook Pro and you other guys and girls. :(

I've been trying to install Snow Leopard on my SP35P2 for over a week now.

I keep getting kernel panic. On some other distros it won't boot at all.

I have been using this guide:

http://www.taranfx.com/how-to-install-snowosx-universal

I don't know if I keep copying those files to the wrong place or something. Since I keep getting kernel panic every time I boot. Please help me.

I don't know why it would kernel panic on boot. I don't use "distros" of OS X. I have installed Leopard and Snow Leopard both from the retail DVDs.

Anyway, the problem could be that you selected the wrong drivers when you installed from the distro. I installed Snow Leopard from a USB stick with Chameleon on it (Chameleon loaded the correct drivers for my system). There are many tutorials around this site that can help with installing off of USB sticks.

So, check the drivers you selected when you installed, and make sure you do the "patch" the tutorial you posted says to do.

Ok. Now I have given up the distros on Snow Leopard and actually bought a retail DVD of Snow Leopard. Gonna try installing this one. :D

After not giving it much thought for a couple of months I started my mission to get my Shuttle accept that half-eaten apple again last week. ;) Last night, I finally got everything to work. *praise the lord* :)

Now I'm finally running Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.3 on my Shuttle SP35P2.

Now 'Ive been thinking about getting a new GPU since I gave my 4870 to my brother in present. (now running an old ati x300). But I'm really concerned about what GPU will fit, and what card will be supported in 10.6.3. Any tips?

My nVidia 9800GT barely fits in my case. When you buy a GPU make sure you know the size of it.

Thnx for the qucik reply Hackbook Pro. So now I know that 9800GT fits (at least some of them) and is supported in 10.6.3. What is the newest/best GPU that actually fits/is hackintosh supported in a Shuttle SP35P2. Regardless of price. Or to put it this way. Hackbook Pro, If you had to buy a new GPU today (let's say ur 9800GT broke down). Which one would it be? :D

Do you think this model of Asus 4870 (with this fan) will fit? http://www.ghdata.se/WebShop/Index.php?ArticleID=OEM-EAH4870

On my 9800GT, I actually had to replace the fan with a smaller one to make it fit.

This is the video card I got: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814125234

And this is the fan I put on it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835118001

The card you showed me looks like it would fit. The fan looks smaller than my original one. It should be ok. If it does not fit, you can replace the fan with the one I posted above (make sure you replace thermal grease too).

This post will help you out, it shows the max dimensions a card can be to fit in the case: http://us.shuttle.com/scgforum/tm.aspx?m=850

I just got sleep working with my SG33g5 by editing my DSDT.aml file. The same approach would probably work for you guys.

In the BIOS set "ACPI Suspend Type" to S3 in tab "Power Management" and then "Run VGABIOS if S3 resume" to NO. Otherwise the onboard graphic chip would be powered up on wakeup.

Thnx for the answer. Unfortunately it didnt fit. It DID fit, but the fan get tangled in the cables. I did however switch card with my brother. Now this one does fit perfectly. - asus-eah4870-top.1692503.jpg

I have tried installing 10.6.3 using the original Mac OSX 10.6.3 dvd, but I keep getting kernel panic. Seems I have to go back to using that SnowOSXUniFlash again. What a shame. I actually bought the orignal dvd and no luck. ;) Well, now they can't blame me for using a distro then I guess. ;)

I have run OSX 10.6.3 on my SP35P2 and it works very well, but sleep mode will not go. When i click " go to sleep" the monitor switch to black, the hdd switch off and the fan's still spinning. I can't wake up from sleep. In my BIOS is set to S3 (STR). I had test the new SleepEnabler.kext from http://www.meklort.com/?p=167, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=72783 and https://code.google.com/p/xnu-sleep-enabler/.

Nothing works.

Please Help

Greetz nasty

P.S.: Have everyone upgrade from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 over AppleUpdateService?

Yeah, I know. No one has gotten sleep to work with the SP35P2.

As for the 10.6.4 update, I used Software Update, and it worked without problems.

Has anyone tried this?
