Hello this is my first attempt at putting Mac on a PC but I'm having some troubles.

I am using a 10.5 retail Mac OSX disc on a brand new computer build. After one minute of loading the OS i get the infamous "still waiting for root device" error. I don't know where to go from here. Here are my specs:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard

Intel Pentium® e6300 2.8 Ghz

Corsair 4Gb Ram

Nvidia 9600 GSO overclocked

WD SATA HD

LG IDE DVD Writer

After reading a lot of posts it looks like there may be an error in how the optical and hard drives are placed. I have my HD in SATA0 Master and the IDE shows up at the number 4 master spot.

If you have any suggestions or helpful advice, it would be appreciated! Thanks.

There are 2 options in my BIOS for AHCI, both under the Integrated Peripherals menu:

SAATA RAID/AHCI Mode [Disabled] : Here I can set Disabled to AHCI

Onboard SATA/IDE Control Mode [iDE] : Here I can set IDE to AHCI

If I set both to AHCI then after the POST screen it shows some motherboard info followed by my DVD Drive info in green letters. It runs boot-132 up to the point where I switch out the cd for my retail cd. Once I try to continue with this cd it asks for the hexidecimal number of the drive, with [ff] listed. However if I try to boot from ff nothing happens. Should the drive have a different hex number? 9f also didn't work.

If I set just the second option to AHCI, I get the same thing as above.

If I set just the first option to AHCI, it lists the drive at f9 and runs the install, but throws the same "still waiting" error.

Any more suggestions? I also have a Card Reader hooked up via USB, will that impact it? Thanks again!

Are you using the original boot 132 iso or did you create a custom for your mo/bo's devices?

In order to make it work you will need to create your own boot cd.

And yes you need only the second option to be AHCI, not the raid.

No I haven't tried that yet, although would that even matter if I'm still using an IDE drive?
