JustinAiken
So I did my first working osx86 install around a year ago... first one was Leo4all V3... now I'm on iDeneb 10.5.6... These are all working very well! I've learned alot about Mac OS - I know terminal commands to repair permissions, I can create EFI strings, I multiboot, I feel pretty smart! But there's so many things I've been using that I have no idea what the hell they are/do... so here's some dumb questions... * What's a kernel? What's the difference between voodoo and the others? * What exactly do EFI and Chamelon do? What is EFI? And what's an "EFI" partition? * What is a kext? I've installed tons, deleted tons... don't know what they are in general. * What's "boot-132"... I see lots of threads about it, but no simple introductions Maybe this could be the "thread for asking things you should know by now but don't" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170486-questions-a-year-later/ Share on other sites
