twiggs462
This has been the 6th time I have reinstalled iDeneb on my D945GCLF I got everything to work fine under the stock 10.5.6 install. Use Chameleon to boot - everything is fine... when I upgrade to 10.5.7 using the iDeneb package it makes the machine freeze when booting... Do or should I upgrade to 10.5.7? Is it worth it? Thanks for any tips... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170342-after-installing-1057-ideneb-update-freezes-at-boot-logo/ Share on other sites

Kasakka
Don't use the iDeneb 10.5.7 update package. It didn't work for me either. I updated using software update and it works. I will try the software update... if I get stuck I will try to boot with the -v... how do I do that with chameleon installed? twiggs462
Don't use the iDeneb 10.5.7 update package. It didn't work for me either. I updated using software update and it works. OK... did the combo software update stock... from iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 with no luck... got stuck at the apple logo and below was the end of what was scrolling on the screen when booting into verbose mode... before I performed the update I used the OSx86Tools app to back up the kernel and the extensions... so I have those on a flash drive. So what happened here? I really don't feel like formatting for the 20th time.. there has got to be a fix... unless the official update really craps things out... does it? If I have to copy things back.. can you explain how I do this when in single user mode? Once again is there a need to go to 10.5.7? By the way I am running the 9.2.0 Speedstep Kernel.... seemed to be the only one that worked well. On a second note my sleep did not work either... Thank you for any help you can provide. twiggs462
Anyone? Should I reformat and start from the beginning and not update to 10.5.7? zyphr
Anyone? Should I reformat and start from the beginning and not update to 10.5.7? Don't give up so quickly. If you cannot run the stock vanilla kernel maybe you need to boot into a working partition to fix your kernel and system.kext in /system/library/extensions because iDeneb 10.5.7 update change the mach_kernel to the stock 9.5.7 kernel. Also, if this does not work, you can also try to re-apply the two packages (I don't remember the exact name, it is Leopard-fix and leopardAMD) in the /system/library/installation folder of the iDeneb v1.4 Disc. These two package will help you fix the settings and CPUID for the newly installed files. Good luck! ]] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170342-after-installing-1057-ideneb-update-freezes-at-boot-logo/#findComment-1178811 Share on other sites
raven332
no, not worth it.Nothing but headaches on my UD3r board with .7,either delta or combo.Delta, at least stays stable until it decides to keel over and take the OS with it.The combo just refuses to work with your custom drivers. This is second time my LAN and 889a drivers WONt install after .7 update. They work fine with .5 I would use Tiger installation on this, as it is more stable, BUT, [other than torrent being impossible to get...] it is a ROYAL pain to get going on intel non-mac. My drivers are: alc 889a [patched for 5.1, but I have 8.0] nvidia nvinject 1GB-its a custom 8400GS Intel Realtek 1000 LAN [internal] Belkin wifi[RTUSB 73 w/zydas. seems to kick it better than by itself] ICH7/or the newer ICH 10 patches.Drives still come up orange either way.Hardware is ICH10. [six sata and 1 IDE port] Time machine WAS working with the delta update.Until I got weird text on the terminal, was missing files[bad JMicron controller driver?? I have both SATA and IDE JMicron] and got a kernel panic with ACPI.Decided to go get the torrent for the updated drivers, but there aren't enough seeders.I'm stalling halfway. That was three days ago. Now I have to reformat to 10.5.5 and stay put.Ubuntu has weird usb ps2 headset drivers, apparently someone broke them, as Ubuntu decides to lose the dongles [slot] and fail to work.It worked fine up until 9.04.I have to have my skype or SIP phone. My cell bill is outrageous. that looks like a kernel or audio issue.Page fault after loading HDA??? try removing the offending kext with the -s boot option or terminal from the install media. Wish they had that drop menu in the tiger install. willpower101
bump. same problem. I really have too much on my system to reformat right now. Can anyone offer advice of how to get this guy to work? Here's the deal I'm dual booting vista & 10.5.2 kalyway install w/ 10.5.3 update and 10.5.4 vanilla following this guide yeaeears ago. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112708 disk0s1 vista disk0s3 osxboot w chameleon on it (no /Extra folder for some reason though) disk1s2 OSX Now, i've always been able to boot either drive and get to osx via a Chameleon 1.0.11 menu. I installed 10.5.7 auto update (stupid I know) and bam, it killed EVERYTHING. It hangs every time I restart. Even if I take the first disk out. I always get to: (with -v and or -x doesn't matter) jnl: unknown-dev: journal start/end pointers reset! (jnl 0xblah blah blah) jnl: unknown-dev: journal replay done. Then it freezes. Then my hard drive powers off. WTF. I've tried EVERY help article I could find. I've tried an article that instructed me to put my install cd back in and copy over the *ATA* from system/library/extentions/ to the osx drive I'm lost.
