MasterKopek
So, after a complete crash a while back I've finally got my machine running quite nicely. However, I find it difficult to really trust my data to my Leopard partition, so my goal here is to hammer out some of the bugs and problems that I'm having. My configuration: ECS G31T-M motherboard Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33ghz 4GB 667mhz DDR2 ram Realtek ALC662 Audio nVidia GeForce 9500GT 512mb Realtek 8187B USB wifi Broadcom USB bluetooth My issues: Seemingly random panics No audio input (low on list of importance) No sleep (immediately wakes) Incomplete Shutdown (fans continue running) Other (real) macs on my network show up as PC shares. (see picture) I installed using iAtkos 10.5.5 v5i as per osx86wiki. I'm using vanilla kernel and I've upgraded to 10.5.7 with from what I can tell no new problems, but I'd really like to get these hammered out if possible. So if anyone knows of any fixes to these, I would appreciate it greatly. This forum is already such a great resource. Thanks in advance. Scottapotamas
boot into verbose mode ( use -v on startup at darwin or choose verbose from charmeleon) then get a panic and report what it says, you cant fix the problem until you know what it is... MasterKopek
boot into verbose mode ( use -v on startup at darwin or choose verbose from charmeleon) then get a panic and report what it says, you cant fix the problem until you know what it is... Oh, i know. I guess I should have mentioned what progress, albeit little, I have made in that direction. So i've been booting with debug=0x100 now, and I got a panic earlier today giving a message related to my Realtek 8187b driver, IOUSBFamily, and IONetworkingFamily. After that, I uninstalled the current 8187b driver and replaced with the driver provided by the actually manufacture of the device, Trendnet. I also updated IOUSBFamily with Slice's 3.4.4 revision for 10.5.7, and installed a new version of the driver for my RTL8101e NIC. So far I have yet to receive any panics, but like i said they occurred at random intervals anyway, so it's possible nothing has changed. So I'm essentially just waiting for another panic to happen to see what comes up now. Scottapotamas
ok, some could be cause by a mismatched kernel and system.kext and seatbelt.kext. Find matching ones and install them, eg, 10.5.6 seatbelt and system, and that should help... I am doing that, but looking for a 10.5.7, just to make my machine more vanilla... MasterKopek
Well, if you need vanilla system.kext and seatbelt.kext for 10.5.7 here are the two that i pulled from the combo update.
