Hey was wondering should I update to 10.5.7 because I have got a dual core and with the 10.5.6 i have had trouble getting the dual core wifi and sound and touchpad/keyboard to work in the past. would it be safe to update or not?

I have dell inspirron 6400 AKA E1505

Thanks any advise would be good.

If you upgrade to 10.5.7, it will replace your custom files such as

Kernel with TSC_Sync patch (specific to Dell)

AppleHDA.kext (Sigmatel patched) Sound Driver

AppleACPIPlatform (ACPIPS2Nub.kext) PS2 Touchpad/Keyboard customisation

AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext (patched to enable laptop screen)

So basically it will mess up your system unless you backup those kexts and replace them after the update (probably will need usb keyboard and mouse to do the work)

So unless you are well versed with command line mode operation, DONT do it

Thanks... I really really need to work on finding out how to do this backup and restore stuff coz i mess it up every-time and have to install :P I will have to look at some youtube videos on how to do it. I read and apparently there isn't much too the new update anyways.

Thanks for replying.
