Hey all,

I've been able to install 10.5.5 on my XPS 420, but it doesn't actually boot into the OS successfully. I just hangs at the grey Apple logo until I'm forced to restart.

System specs:

Prcoessor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

Video: ATI Radeon 3870

Audio: Intel 82801I HD Audio Controller / ATI Radeon HD 3870 Audio device

Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n

RAID bus controller: Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller

For the installation, I used these settings:

iATKOS v5i Main System

PC EFI V9

AppleDecrypt

(added SMBIOS-EFI)

9.5.0 Kernel Voodoo

Stock ACPI Modified

Disabler.Kext

ATI

SATA/IDE > Intel SATA

NTFS-3G

I really appreciate any help.

If you use the -v option during your boot, you will see the startup sequence.

You will then end on the actual error it comes up with! Knowing Dell it will most probably be a "waiting for root device2 error!

You will have to change the BIOS setting from it original RAID setting to AUTODETECT.

Once you then have everything installed you can search the forum on how to patch the right kext with a working Device ID in order to get it to run with the RAID setting set on ON.

If you have two drives, and they are currently set as such and you have WindBLOWS installed you will loose it, if not you may change it with confidence!
