stuntdriver
hey guys... recently i`ve bought a new pair of 1gb rams.... so now i have 4gb... i`ve bought the same brand, and model of ram o the previous 2.. so all 4 are the same... my leopard (10.5.2 kalyway) recognizes the 4gb.. but the computer on heavy load crashes, like when i`m doing some encoding with premiere pro, or heavy tasking in photoshop... (grey screen kernel panic..need to restart)... after many tries (thought i had hardware failures on disk or other stuff)... and many hours spent on internet research.. i read that was because of the 32bits of leopard... but how.. in apple... they ship computer with even more than 4gb ram working.. i i`ve read that even some hackintosh users get the 4gbs working... how i can do that??? i want to use my 4gbs without crashes... any ideas, fixes, experiences??? thanks! my computer: mb: asus p5k premium black pearl cpu: intel core 2 quad q6600 overclocked to 3.0ghz (volt. 1.30) ram: 4gb (4 x 1gb) kingston 800mhz hd: 250gb seagate x 2 video: asus 8600gts leopad: kalyway 10.5.1 (all working perfect except no microphone..) It's known to cause kernel panics with >2gb ram 2.- Don't use "distros". Use a real vanilla install. "distros" have so many modified files that makes impossible to know why some errors are happening. TechWiz
what is "distros"??? Distro is an old UNIX/Linux term that is really just a shortened form of Distribution but Distro looks and sounds better than Distri or Distrib or w.e else you can shorten it to logically. It litterally means any form of an original piece of software that has been modified and sold as something comepletely different. Ex. Fedora, Ubuntu and RedHat are all Distro's of Linux while Kalyway, iDeneb and JaS are all Distro's of Mac OS X Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169702-4gb-ram-problems/#findComment-1194077 Share on other sites
