jaykay
hi i'm a osx86 newbe! I tried to install osx on my hp nx6125 natively, which worked fine so far. but i have problems with som devices like sound, internal network and PCMCIA. I noticed that my chipset (Ati x200) is more or less unsupported and because of that i have to install an ata driver to enable dma and stuff. but here in this forums noone complains about the PCMCIA-Support. I wanted to use an pcmcia wireless card which is supported (netgear wg511) but in my System Profiler under PC Cards is says "No information found". I assume that this means that my slot isnt supported too. Is that right? because there is no more windows on my notebook left i dont know exactly which manufractor this slot-thing has, but i think it was a kind of texas instruments... (where can i get this information??) the sound thing is not that important for me. please please help me! my mac mini works so great and i want os x on my notebook too! thanks, michael Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16961-problem-with-pcmcia-slot-ati-x200/ Share on other sites
Suser
Little to no PCMCIA controllers are supported on PC laptops. Only one chipset (for which I forgot which one) is supported. If you need wireless lan, buy yourself a USB device. Charleybrown
Same here. Got a NX6125 and have wired and wireless working. But indeed, PCMCIA is no go Look around on the forum, you can find everything you need. Even did a benchmark with a MBP 2Ghz and you know what? Mine is 5 secs faster than the MBP! Ain't that nice.
