hananiaschan
My hackintosh is almost ready. I just need to get sleep working. When I press sleep from the menu, the screens flashes black at the same time all the fans everything starts up fast (like booting up), and then comes back to the desktop like nothing happened. (also the fans slow down again). I guess that has something to do with the PSU trying to sleep. I'd read some were in the forums, that a VoodooPower.kext, VoodooUSBEHCI.kext will do the trick. But I'm scared to break something! Any help please! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169227-no-sleep-in-asus-p5kpl-cm/ Share on other sites
Master Chief
Ah, so you finally got it working. Great for you. Let's start with a link to your Asus motherboard with the sleep problems, as a reference. BTW: restart and shutdown work for you? Anyway, I think you either want the kext modified by Slice: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...0&start=320 or Chameleon V2, and Superhai's Voodoopower: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=143898 p.s. You can also solve this problem by patching you DSDT (use search) or by adding EFI-strings (device ID's) to your copy of: com.apple.Boot.plist (use locate to get to it) and you will find me writing about it in the thread above (Slice ICHx patched kext). Very rarely would the fans stay on after a shutdown, so I would force shutdown. Very rare! I can live with it. hananiaschan
Thanks so much for your help!!! I'll post back with some results! Well after a lot of trial and error... I partially got it to work! I don't know how either!!! :censored2: I installed the IOUSB....kext, and nothing happen. I got an error at start up that I install kext incorrectly, please reinstall. Well, I removed it. Then I tried the Voodoo...kext. Also nothing happen. After some trouble shooting, some how I lost my nvidia drivers. Because I lost my screen resolution, screensaver was ugly and slow...etc. I deleted all the extra kexts I installed, and reinstall 9500gt drivers again, also my ethernet went wrong (reinstalled that too)...I rebooted, my desktop is back to its normal resolution, internet back!! I hit sleep from the menu... All of the sudden, it went to sleep!!! I wake up, started up safari to reply my success... but no internet!!!!! I had to reinstall AttansicL1EEthernet again. Restarted... That hanged, so had to force shutdown. Everything is back to normal, and a big plus is I can sleep!!! But I do lose the ethernet drivers (lose or breaks somehow after waking). I know this is confusing, I don't get it myself. I just wrote down step by step what I did. Does anybody know anything about this??? If I can't fix the ethernet issue, then there's no point in having sleep. If I'm going have to reinstall kexts, and reboot every time I wake up the computer. Any advice I'll really appreciated! Sorry correction on the ethernet thing... after i wake up the computer, I checked the system pref/ network... in the diagnostic panel. Ethernet has a green light, everything else has red light! still only works after reinstalling the kext. I think reboot/shutdown might be broken as well.... Master Chief
It must be due to the way you install kext files, so how do you install them? And in case you do this manually, without Kext Helper or OSX86Tools, then you must clear your extension cache with: sudo touch /S*/L*/Extensions.mkext If we had to re-install our modified kext files all the time... then we would have stopped using a hack a long time ago already. Don't you think so? Oh, and I take it that you repaired permission with Disk Utility (Menu Go/Utilities/Disk Utility) after installing kext files. Right? p.s.
