First I'm using the Jas 10.4.6 iso along with Acronis Disk director and please follow the info exactly as I say. First this guide will require Acronis Disk Director so make sure you have it before you continue.

I used this guide at this link below so give credit to the creator I'm just helping further with it.

http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=11339&st=0

In the Preparting For Installation Section this is what I did.

2. I used the Jas 10.4.6 iso instead of the 10.4.5 stuff.

3. Make sure you install OS selector and after reboot just double click on the Windows icon to reboot into windows xp.

3. Still part of step three make note that you must select logical and not primary when creating the FAT32 partation.

Again for everything I say just follow the info at the link but just note what i say for each section and subsection.

Now if everything goes like the guide just note that once you reach the OS X installer screen with the button on the left that says customize please make sure you select customize because if you don't it won't work. You should look at every screen to make sure you don't go past it because if you do you must start over again.

Once at the customize screen click on the bottom most arrow until more options drop down such as 10.4.6 combo update and such. Select these two options from this list only.

10.4.6 Combo Update (highest in subsection) "and" Intel SSE3 patch. Also uncheck the Language and Printer Drivers options unless you need them as it would be quicker. Once these are selected you can continue with the installation. Once its installed and you see the Restart button click it and remote the DVD and once rebooted the Aronis OS selector will load.

Once on step 8 on the section Setup Dual boot on the guide just note that as long as Primary is selection your fine. Don't worry about the None selection okay. Also this step took about 15-20 minutes so give it time but it will finish and work.

Once step 8 finishes please note that it won't boot anything but Windows XP and nothing you do fixes that but this is the fix for that okay.

Boot into Windows XP and once in windows XP go into the Acronis menu and select Deactivate OS Selector and follow the info until it reboots and you see the success screen. Now you will boot back into Windows XP again and once in windows xp open Disk Director Suite. Once in the program right click on the OS X partition and select advanced and Set Active and apply the changes by clicking the checker flag icon.

Now when you reboot it will reboot into OS X without giving a menu to select windows XP but don't freak out as we will change that while in OS X. Finish the OS X first run wizard until you reach the desktop of OS X.

Follow this info listed below....

1. open teminal and type:

sudo -s

nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

2.add

<key>Quiet Boot</key>

<string>No</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

quit and restart.

Now in step number two just start typing in right smack below your last string option. For example this was my plist before this step.

?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple$'>http://www.apple$

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

</dict>

</plist>

This is my plist after the additions.

?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple$

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Quiet Boot</key>

<string>No</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

</dict>

</plist>

Just make sure its done this way....once you get it entered correctly press Ctrl + X and save the changes.

Now just reboot again and you will see a darwin boot loader with two choices now for both Windows XP and Mac OS X.

Now on this computer the graphics will be at 1024x768@32bit color. Everything works right out of the box including networking, USB and sound but the onboard sound does need one tweak.

First make sure by the clock you have the sound icon and you can move the slider. If you can do both please follow these steps to enable audio.

Goto Applications...Utilities and select Audio Midi Setup. Now in the Audio Devices section you should see a checkbox with Properties For to the left. Select that dropdown list and select the second option which will have the same name. Once you do this the left side input will be removed and the right side output will now have options.

Under the Audio output section look for the drop down box with 2CH-16bit. Select the drop down and change it to 6CH-16bit. Now click on configure speakers button. Now change the left front drop down to "3" and click on the button right above that has the text Left Front and if you hear sound your set. Also make sure to change right front to "6" and click on the botton to make sure sound is heard. Once sound is heard from both speakers your sound is now working and itunes and anything else can have stereo playback from the onboard audio of the Dell 1100.

I would also assume that this guide will work with the Dell B110 as I believe its the same exact computer as the 1100.

I hope this guide can be of great help for those of you with a Dell 1100 desktop and maybe the Dell B110 desktop.

Also of note the graphics are quite smooth considering it doesn't support QE or anything and it runs and boots very very fast. Its faster than my old G4 emac but I do have 1GB of memory which I think helps.

I need to update a few things I both forgot and did after writing this. First I should note that I'm using onboard graphics which are Intel i865g video and just so you know the install and os itself defaulted with Vesa 3.0 at a res of 1024x768x32 without doing anything. But if using my guide above you should do the following belew first before anything as you could have problems both installing and using OS X but I can't prove it as I did these just in case to save time.

First I'm using a Dell Bios version A01. So at bootup press F2 and get into setup. Once in setup you should do all of these things below.

1. Highlight "Memory Information" and press "ENTER". Highlight "AGP Aperture" and press the + key (plus sign) until 256MB is displayed and press "ESC". Please note that even though 256MB is selected only 7MB of system memory will be used for video so beyond that 7MB the rest of system memory will be available.

2. Now Highlight "Integrated Devices (LegacySelect Options)" and press "ENTER".

A:) Primary Video Controller should be set at "Auto" so if you see AUTO to the right your fine.

B:) Hightlight "Onboard Video Buffer" and press the + key (plus sign) until 8MB is displayed and press "ESC".

Once you have done all of the above keep pressing the ESC key until a screen pops up and highlight (if not already) "Save Changes And Exit" and press "ENTER". You should be rebooting now.

Again this should be done before starting anything from my guide above.

Also of note I was able to get a resolution of 1280x1024x32 @60hz by adding this to the bottom of my Boot Plist from my guide above.

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1280x1024x32@60</string>

Please note that I'm using a Dell monitor and if you put 75 instead of 60 it won't work so its best to test it out using the darwin bootloader before changing the plist.

So once installed when you reboot press the any key prompt to get to the screen where you can select which OS to boot. At this screen type the following below and it is case sensitive and you must include the quotes and spaces as well.

"Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32@60"

Once entered just press Enter to boot with this resolution. You can change it to anything you want.

So 1600x1200 could be used for the resolution instead of 1280x1024. The 32 is the bit depth which really shouldn't be changed even if you go with a higher resolution. The @xx is the frequency response and can be changed to say 75 insted of 60. Just note that if you put something higher than your monitor supports in the plist no GUI will boot until its changed so again its best to try it once using the bootloader "before" adding it to your plist file.
