bratescu1
I have a core i7 on a UD4P and iAtkos 5i installed which is not booting due to a kernel panic error. I was wondering if I can update the mach_kernel from Windows using MacDrive and then boot in Leo and re-run the whole installation from the update from Apple using the normal "script" update in order to fully update the OS. Would this work? Or what other files do I need to copy from the update pack? I extracted the 10.5.7 combo update using Pacifist. I understand that 10.5.7 now fully supports nehalem CPUs. I'm sorry but I'm a liitle noob in this job so any help is so appreciated. riws
Not so really, only mach_kernel as Kernel, just overwrite it, most other Files need Permissions and Update Function, not just overwrite. Hmmm. All I need is to be able to boot somehow in Leo and then I suppose I can run the updater. All I want to know if this is possible to achieve. bratescu1
I will give it a try as soon as I get home. The problem is that I don't have internet access yet to download an original 10.5.7 backup and try with boot123. For now I have to try other solutions. The MacDrive solution came to my mind and I would like to try it. iAtkos 5i doesn't boot with voodoo, fassl kernels and -v busratio=20 cpus=1 flags either. I do have a Macbook Pro and I tried to trick in trying to restore the system from TimeMachine. Leo started to boot , no kernel panics, but during boot the process stopped at some VPN service and remained blocked. I will keep this updated in case someone is interrested in how it ended up. bratescu1
Well I gave up the idea. I finally got a copy of iPC 10.5.6 I installed it with no drivers just a few patches and booted ot with busratio=20 and cpus=1 flag. After instalation I updated with original 10.5.7 using netkas method and voilla! It works. I couldn't setup my motherboard sound to work on more than stereo although I guess there should be something for ALC889A or ALC888. I am confused though since my motherboard is UD4P and I read on many posts where is wrotten many codecs for this audio. With the package from iPC for 889A it doesn't work, only using the ALC888 but this way I got only stereo. I also have a BFG GTX 260 I installed using netkas' gudies, the driver package and injector and it works flawlessly. Any help on audio?
