Stern
I suddenly have this problem where i cannot boot into macosx using the platform=X86PC specification. ACPI works, but is less stable and more laggy. Here's the last line of code that appeared in -v mode when I used X86PC. From path: "mach_kernel", Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOMedia</string><key>Context</key><string ID="2">Apple_HFS</string></dict> This same exact line of code appears with platform=ACPI, but there is no hang. The only change that there has been is that I switched gfx cards from a GeForce MX 440 to a GeForce FX 5200. Could this have made a difference? Also, I noticed that in -v it said that there was an unexpected ACPI code. Is this normal, and does it have anything to do with what I did? Anybody have any ideas? cyrana
If it helps any, I added an FX5700 PCI to my system and it crashes with X86PC. Only boots in ACPI (used to work in either). And, my onboard video is screwed up w/this FX card in, so no dual monitor. Stern
Would it help to delete the GeForceFX.kext files in the /System/Library/Extensions folder? Those might be causing an IO problem, especially if they're made for special Mac cards. bender12
Yes, it wouldn't hurt to delete NVDA*, ATI* and GeForce* from the Extensions directory, and then boot up with the -f option. As far as your error, to me it looks you incorrectly edited a plist file somewhere... but that's just a guess. Were you trying to hack at any plist files at some point? Stern
The only plist file that I edited was the com.apple.Boot.plist file in order to automatically set the platform=X86PC option. Also, would deleting the kexts actually help, even though booting without safe mode works, and the system profiler says that it didn't load any kexts? Edit: I'm still using the deadmoo install, if that changes anything, with full maxxus 0.4 patch. Probably wouldn't help you in your case though. Sorry, can't help you with your other error then. Never seen it. cyrana
Yeah, deleting them didn't help me either, so good luck. I might send my FX5700 back, personally. Too bad about the best PCI card with availability made by ATI is a 9250 or so nowadays. Stern
One other thing that seems odd is that it says in -t boot that some ACPI thing is not 0x14 as expected. Is that normal, does it have something to do with TPM, or do you know what it means?
