Philbert
I downloaded the live DVD and as I'm sure you know it's almost 7GB. It looks like most of that is the installer.dmg file. I don't want an installer, just the live aspect. Should it work to just remove the installer.dmg file? It seems stupid to go out and spend money on dual layer DVDRs when I already have single layer ones. Sorry if I'm a little noobish, it just seems logical to me. Philbert
I actually have now and it gave me an error about a missing file but it flashed by so fast I couldn't read what file it was, it didn't say installer.dmg though that's for sure. Maybe I'll try it on a different computer. Edit: Oh wait I got it took a few tries with a camera and some careful timing. It says it can't find "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/live.plist". Which I do see on the disc, I never touched that file. SteveWasTaken
you should go to the section about the os x live cd, it has instructions on making your own, which would be much smaller. Thats if this doesn't work. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168627-just-a-live-dvd-no-installer/#findComment-1166618 Share on other sites
Philbert
Oh OK thank you, I wouldn't have seen that section if you didn't say it was there. Philbert
It seems like you need access to a mac in order to do that, which I don't have, but that gives me a wiser place to post anyway. SteveWasTaken
you need access to an installed version of os x, whether it be on a mac or a pc running os x86. I am assuming this is possible using VMware as well, as it is possible to install os x onto vmware from what I have read.
