james_uk
Hi, got hold of my mac g5 case eventually. sad thing is that as with alot of the g5 cases, the bottom back bracket is bent and has pulled the bottom of the side panel up a bit and the rivets holding it on have come off there. does anyone have any way to fix this? heat and remould maybe? could really use some insight. im not too bothered about tarnishing the anodising as i was thinking of refinishing it anyway. cheers guys Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168155-mac-g5-case-fix/ Share on other sites
apple apple
I haven't done this, but..... I've seen some guys use small bolts (or rivets can't remember) to get the panel back in place. Duno about adding heat, I'd be hesitant to though you may end up with more problems in the end. pirloui
I did it with screws, and it all went wrong, so be skilled or patient Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168155-mac-g5-case-fix/#findComment-1176318 Share on other sites
Thath0r
I got the very same situation here with my G5 case. I read about people who put it on a flat and hard surface, then put a flat piece of wood on it and hammered it all the way down into the original shape. The problem here is (why I haven't done it by now with this method), that if the aluminium was bent too much anyway, It may will break. Are there any aluminium experts here? ...or patient patient for what?
