pilotage
This is an elaboration in an attempt to narrow down the problem i presented in: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=16791 Hey Hey I have been trying for months to install OSX86 on my Acer Ferrari 4005 notebook. I know that the concensus is that you will always end up with the "Still waiting on root device" error when using this laptop. I am using the JAS 10.4.6 Install DVD using: rd=*/PCI0@0/CHN1@0:0 -v as my start options I managed to find a root device with my installer even though the DVD-RAM is master on the secondary IDE channel. This is where I encounter my problem I get a <panic> right after I find the root device I have tried using the platform=X86PC command when starting and I see no difference with the text on the screen Please Help as I feel I am VERY close Thank you to all who attempt to help me in this issue I've been searching arround and I can only find refereces to the "bdevvp failed: open" error in cases where one is using a USB hard drive. I am not and this is what Is confusing me. If the mod reads this then please close the thread I previously posted "So.....Close.....Panic....Help...Please?" Thx again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16804-acer-ferrari-4000-partial-sucess-almost/ Share on other sites

denalijb
Has anyone tried installing via USB CDROM? It's a "cable select" issue. I've seen these a few times on full size cdroms as well. Bummer! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16804-acer-ferrari-4000-partial-sucess-almost/#findComment-258535 Share on other sites
Guest bikedude880
Boot with these commands: io=0xffffffff -v That first part calls up the local debugger to run with the kernel and can give more detailed output on your problem. Sometimes the problem isn't where you think it might be.
