Hi , i update fresh ipc 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, and before that all other updates...

but after restart , i see just white apple screen, and nothing...

i do it twice, so i start with -v -x -f but nothing kext are reloaded, and then blacj screeen..

i have AMD X2 3600+, dfi infinity nf4 ultra m2 , 2 Gb mems, voodoo 9.5 and woodoo 9.6 because i have problem with mounting *.dmg files..kext for ethernet,ps/2 keyboard,usb/ehci, and thats alll

Could anyone help me.?

Thanks,...

I only can say that today I had the same issue trying to replace the kernel before updating (to enable both cores in my dell inspiron 9400), and my solution was reinstalling iPC 10.5.6 and before all, apply the update and except an issue with the sleep mode, all well (In my case, I don't use voodoo kernel, only vanilla).

Errrm, I haven't tried the update from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 but the install disk seems to be a good place to start. Add the kexts you need to the installation from the customize menu. It'll be fine to deselect the base package.

should i try after update to 10.5.7 and before restart restore all kext-s with osxtools

Edit,

Tnx i try to run from install cd, uncheck base package, select kext, and voilla,,it works;)

Hello !

I have the same problem with my Aspire One A150; it was running fine under 10.5.6 (IPC distro), but when I upgraded to 10.5.7 "online", everything went wrong.

I tried to reinstall the kexts as you say, but I still have the problem.

Can you tell me exactly what you did to restore OSx on your computer ?

Regards.

Fabrice.

I am also trying to install .6 on my Dell Inspiron 9400. Did you get it to work? If so, can you share the recipe? :D

Yet all i can get is kalyway 10.5.2 with several kernels. Everything working so far including both cores (no SD and expresscard, usb is intermitent with hardrives, no sleep.)

Thank You Guys Soooo much! This method worked for me. For some reason I didn't understand what Dansteven said but it was clear what he meant in Shunky's 'Edit', So thank you both!

I have a Sony VGN-FE770G Semi-working.

I replaced the Intel Wireless with a Dell 1390 Broadcom Card. And used the Intel GMA915 Kext for video support. I use the PS/2 Keyboard patch for keyboard and mouse support. I use the SATAICHX KEXT for SATAS support and I use a bluetooth dongle with my mototola S9-HD headset for audio :-D So for I've upgraded to 10.5.8. I'll buy the snow leopard since I'm getting a discount at work and let everyone know how the rest of the upgrading goes.

Hey Fabrice, I hope I can be of some help if I'm not to late.

After reading Shunky's POST here is what I did.

Installed OSX using iPC 10.5.6 after the install, on the first boot I made I used the -f switch as instructed in the iPC installation notes. I did my 10.5.8 Combo update. The system proceded to reboot itself, Then it was really working (no image on screen). So I shutdown the laptop by holding down the power button, I booted off the iPC installation disc again. This time I didn't format the drive. Simply right before the actually install, I clicked customize, unchecked base package, reselected all the KEXT that I had selected during the original install. Then installed the "OS". This took only a few minutes. After the next boot up, I made sure to use the '-f' switch as I did during the first install and it worked fine. I hope was of some help. I use OSX so that I can learn more about the OS. I'm still very much a beginner my self.
