moseschrist
well after a couple of weeks of which i've been trying to install osx via VMware with no luck i finally managed to get it done. as you may remember, when i installed with VMware the installer always crashed the minute the apple logo showed and i got a messege that my CPU doesn't have PAE while the guest OS (the installer) requires PAE or in short, VMware bug 9297... this was while all the other thinkpads with the same CPU specifications manged to install osx on their machines... the reason i was using VMware was because i didn't had a DVDburner so i decided to spent some money and go buy one for my desktop computer, and what do you know ? i'm writing this messege out from osx ! it runs great, very fast.... even bluetooth works ! it seems that some of the functions keys work, volume keys work, the lcd/screener key work, brightness keys work and also the nightlight... had a little problem with the soundmax ac97 but it was fixed. but... here's some problems, keyboard only works on safe mode... and wireless doesn't work at all (not complaining ) dvd playback doesn't work very well but i guess it's because of my video card, the crappy radeon 7500 mobile (damn you IBM !). update: got the keyboard and touchpad working... other than that, it's all good. now i'm moving on to try and fixing the keyboard as it worked last night but died suddenly... completly forgot about the midterm i've got on sunday... (data structures suck...) if anyone got some thought on how to help with some of problems it would be great... (if someone want to take my midterm for me it would be awsome !) Ashgotti
I had to install native on my t42 too bcause of the pae thing. Some times my mouse and keyboard don't work so i have to unplug and plug them in again. no wifi but i ordered a atheros off ebay. sound took some tweaking and so did opengl. video playback full screen is laggy. so i have those to work on. moseschrist
yes, i installed native and it works. ashgotti, about your mouse/keyboard prob. check the wiki technical faq, they explained how to fix that problem if you had your mouse work at first boot and then gone... it worked for me too when my keyboard worked (even after first boot) and then stopped, now even the touchpad works. did you managed to get your video card to register as AGP ? Ashgotti
^the keyboard and mouse adn trackpad DO work, just some times they don't and the way i fix it is to unplug whatever isnt working and plug it back in and presto, working. as for vid card, i have mobility 7500 and i have opengl working on it but the proper driver is in dev i believe. moseschrist
well as i said about your keyboard, there maybe a way to fix that. i had the same problem, and it was all about permissions... so i did this: cd /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext sudo find . -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \; sudo find . -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \; and then the problem was gone... sconover
Hi, I have a T43 and tried an install to a partiion using Partition Magic, etc, but I'm getting the "still waiting for root" problem. Other thinkpad users have had success and I'm wondering what the difference is. Are you dual booting? Or did you wipe out windows and do a clean-disk install? Also what specific OSX image/version did you use? -Steve Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16753-finally-success-on-my-t42-but/#findComment-113843 Share on other sites
