Currently had succesfully installed iAtkos 10.5.5. I just installed iPC 10.5.6 on another computer and liked a lot of things the kernel offered. I wanted to get 10.5.6 from iPC so I tried installing it.

I was able to get it to reboot and act like it was booting normally but then it freezes after about 20 seconds of the scrolling circle. I booted in verbose and it seems to be freezing around the message "ocsd[]: starting" Sometimes there will be a message pop up after that, but usually it's always the last message before freeze or right before.

I have tried using the Vodoo 9.5.0, the StageXNU 9.4.0, and the default Vanilla kernel. I have also tried various driver packages as well as only essential and no drivers. I always get the same thing or just a reboot. Any help guys? The motherboard is a P5L-MX. I am using a SATA hard drive as primary and an IDE drive for Time Machine. The setup has been fine with 10.5.5 and it seems to be ok with this install, it just can't seem to switch into the GUI O/S. I can get more info if it will help at all.

People with successful installs on P5L-MX, please reply!

Thanks in advance.

Good morning dude!

In fact, errors done in the installation more probably led to these errors. I will tell you what to choose. Perform the installation with the following choices:

1- Check the iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Base System checkbox.

2- Choose other language that fits you if you liked to.

3- Coming to the iPC OSx86 10.5.6 AMD SSE2 SSE3, and choose the following:

a- Keep the default kernel, and choose NOTHING of the mentioned kernels.

b- Don't choose video driver for now.

c- Chipset drivers: VERY IMPORTANT, as many have their problems here: Choose the following:

1: Intel ICHx SATA Drivers.

2: LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA.

DON'T CHOOS ANY OTHER CHIPSET FILES.

d- Choose your audio and network drivers.

e- USB Drivers: Choose Patched USB Drivers.

f- Fixes: also very important, choose the following for now:

1: SATA Drive Icon Fix (new) and PS/2 device support.

2: Under DSDT patches: choose "with NewHPET (Force Compile)".

3: SMBIOS: choose the "27 rev3 MacBook DDR2".

4: Don't choose the ACPI fix for now!

g- Choose the applications that fit you.

Reboot now with -v -f

Here, if the screen showed yellow sentences in between the white ones, stuck and did not boot, then reboot to the DVD again and UNCHECK ALL of them, especially the base system - don't check it (in order not to install again :( ) and choose only the following two:

1- Voodoo kernel. ONLY without any others.

2- In fixes: Choose the ACPI fix.

3- Reboot, and enjoy!

Note: if shutdown and restart were not functioning, reboot again to the DVD, unckeck again, and under fixes, choose the shutdown/restart fix.

Please report what the results are, hope they are successful.

I appreciate your response. I never noticed any new responses, so sorry for my late reply. I am actually installing with your first settings now. I will let you know how it turns out. Just a little bit ago, I was able to get an unstable copy running with Vodoo kernel. I'm trying your way with default kernel. Will try with voodoo afterwards if no luck. Thanks again, and I'll keep u updated.

Just letting you know that I was succefully able to get a working copy of 10.5.6. I did have to use the vodoo kernel, but all the other settings were correct! I attempted to install 10.5.7 which didn't work very well. So I'm just going to stick with 10.5.6 unless you have any pointers on upgrading my installation. I tried using the iDeneb 10.5.7 Combo Upgrade Kit. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that it worked. Thanks again!
