waradmin
Hello, I will right away say that I have a Compaq v2000 With the ATI xPress 200 chipset. That said, I downloaded the 10.4.6-install-dvd.iso, patched it with the JAS DVD Patch for ATI and I burned the ISO to DVD. I then installed it natively which was slow as hell but I believe it installed properly, I fell asleep before I could see if it was successful and when I came back it looked like it was rebooting. Then when I start it up I get a Waiting for IFC error that keeps flooding the screen. This is where I need help How Do i install with VMWare on a partition? I have read the guide before and it doesnt tell you how to do it on a partition. So my question is how do I partition the drive, what do I format it as, how do I setup VMWare to install to a partition and what do I do in disk utility to make it so I can use the drive. Here is what I am doing: Using partitionmagic to take A 26GB partition (windows is on the other partition which is 14GB) format it as Unformatted, Primary, No Drive Letter Use VMWare to make a custom machine of type Other > Other Set VMWare to use Disk mode, use a partition and have it use the blank 26GB partition Go to advanced and set it to persistent (like the guides tell you to do). Boot from the mounted image, Start the Install, go to disk utility, rename the second Partition from Untitled to Tiger then OSX Partitions the drive, and formats the second partition as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Have OS X install to that drive, install, reboot automaticly after install, complete registration and go into the OS. I can restart the OS by going to Apple > Reboot and it works properly. Once I do shutdown, close VMWare, and try to start the virtual machine VMWare tells me that my Hard Drive has been changed and I need to remove it and add it again. So I remove it from the virtual machine, add it and try to start the OS and get a Missing Operating System error. My Questions: - So why am I not able to start the OS after I close VMWare - How do I setup Windows to boot the OS natively, I tried the Chain0 method and never got it to work - Mainly how do I partition my drive to make it work successfully? And lastly, would it be easier to install on a different system, create a ghost image, then push that image to my laptop? Also When I do a native install I get an error: Waiting for IFC. what does that mean? Thank you for the help. -Steve Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16707-urgent-need-partition-help/ Share on other sites
