Well, After buying a Mac I found myself visiting tech and gadget websites less and less, and honestly until this morning I still believed that the be all and end all of Computer graphics was the Nvidia 8800 series.

So after finding out about the new GTX2xx cards from Nvidia this morning after searching for graphics cards to put in a new rig, I read some reviews and the ATI 4000 series also seems pretty powerful - a far cry from what they we're in the 2000 series.

My question is, What graphics card brand comes out on top for performance and price - a la Intel is better than AMD by a very large margin.

So guys, who is on top in the never ending battle of the GPUs - ATI or Nvidia?

Well from what I've read the performance per money invested seems to be a hell of alot better with ATI - I could get a 4870HD for around £150 with 1GB of GDDR5 compared to a GTX260 for £140 with only 868mb.

Honestly, I've always saw myself as more of an Nvidia person but It seems ATI has much better performance this time around for the mid-high end cards.

The war rages on, with no end in sight!

Seriously though, the ATI 4000 series GPUS were a big scare to nVidia, they offered great performance at very good prices. Since their introduction, nVidia has dropped prices to compete, and the result is you can buy great products from either company at good prices!
