Jory Cameron
This is a simple guide on how to install retail OSX 10.5.7 on a GA-EX58-UD5. 1st Download these item's as you will need them. Script made my DigitalDreamer X58 Mobo Patch Installer OSX 10.5.7 combo update... 10.5.7 Update OSX86Tools... OSX86Tools Once you pick that up assuming you have a retail 10.5 disc with something less than 10.5.7( Mine had 10.5.5 ) we can get started. First Put in your retail 10.5 disc or add an .iso of the disc to your desktop so the script can find it( if it's a .DMG then just change the extension to .iso). Next your going to launch the script and install the Chameleon 2.0 RC1 bootloader to your HDD. Then choose the Option to run the OSX installer, install on your selected drive and then continue on to the next step. Now your going to do one of the following. 1. You can download the Mac OSX combo update.dmg and run it directly without installing specific .kext and booting first, or. 2. You can run the script through steps 5-7 and then turn off you mac, boot to this drive using -v -f , and then run the install package.(This is the method I used, the Mac I had my HDD connected to was a Dell mini 9 with 10.5.7 . Now if you choose option number 1, you may have boot dificulty's so I would say run the script step 5-7 on your fresh install before you move on to what the option number 2 user's are doing. When you run the script be sure you take out the voodoo kernel, because ultimately were aiming for a Vanilla (retail) install with update's. If you choose option number 2, or if you did the above you can now disconnect your hdd from your other mac (or boot into) and connect it to your GA-EX58-UD5, when the bootloader apear's I recomend doing a -v so you can log any error's. If it fail's to boot try -v -f -x and report back. Now hope fully your install booted properlly and you had no error's, if this is the case GREAT!, if not try reading up on things and report your errors. Now that your booted(I hope) install any needed .kext or efi using OSX86tools and change your about this mac.pkg to whatever you would like. Note: Don't freak out if it's displaying DDR2 ram, just change it in the about this mac.pkg and your good to go. Any questions feel free to ask. My hardware is as follow's GA-EX58-UD5 10.5.7 Intel Core i7 920 (overclocked) 12Gb DDR3 1600MHz Nvidia Geforce 9800GT 512mb 1TB OSX HDD 500GB Windows 7 RC2 iPhone 3G beta 5 jailbroken with MMS on ATT Update: Adding tutorial pics later and screen shots.
