Romano2K Posted May 13, 2009 Share Posted May 13, 2009 Hi everyone! I tried to update to 10.5.7 yesterday night, following the 10.5.3 update guide by netkas. It resulted in a kernel panic during the update, the deletion loop was running in a Terminal, although I do not have any "Extra" folder on my computer. I had a retail 10.5.6 installation running on a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L motherboard with a Core 2 Duo E8400 and a GeForce 9600 GT working thanks to the EFI string method. What should I've done? What can I do now? (I can't change boot parameters for now, Mac OS X is trying to load straight away) Thank you! Stoffi Posted May 15, 2009 Share Posted May 15, 2009 I'm not sure about the audio hardware you're using, but most likely it's some Realtek ALC8XX chip (XX stands for a model number, i.e. 883 or 889). Deleting the AppleHDA.kext got my retail system booting again, I've had kernel panics when trying to boot OSX... but I couldn't manage to get my sound back to work. Just to let you know! Regarding the bot parameters: You already know that you have to press F8 before the white screen with that grey apple appears? In the moment where it probably says "Loading Darwin X86"... then it should give you the chance to boot into safe mode using the -x parameter... Safe mode still worked for me after updating. But I guess safe mode Hackintoshs is not what we want, right?
